This art installation at my local coffee shop features the things we can see in, on and by Kailua and Lanikai beaches—sunrises, sea turtles and marine debris. Honu for a Plastic Free Sea began as a wish to incorporate microplastic into an art project, but it's expanded to discover ways to inspire others to REDUCE-REUSE-RECYCLE. Explore with me using science, art and our imagination to fathom the connections between humanity and the colors of a sunrise, the movements of a sea turtle and the journey of one tiny piece of plastic.
