FATHOM iT STUDIOS = NATURE [art + science + imagination] ³

FATHOM iT STUDIOS began as a doodle on a napkin in the 1990s—a fish blowing bubbles from the depths of the sea. After a research expedition to McMurdo Station, Antarctica in 1992, she shifted from marine science to science communication. Her quest: to communicate the beauty and wonder of nature through art and science. Kirsten runs her multi-faceted studio wearing many hats—scientist, artist, designer, photographer, illustrator and writer, blending many skills for her creations. It's a skill set that enables her to connect diverse audiences with nature. She creates products for, and works on projects with, scientists, children, educators, and the general public. She and her husband, their two cats and two dogs, live on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.

The word fathom perfectly defines Kirsten's love of learning and passion for diving.

Fathom [ˈfaT͟Həm]:

1. [verb] to penetrate to the truth of; comprehend; understand
2. [noun] a unit of length equal to 6 feet (1.8 meters): used chiefly in nautical measurements[art + science + imagination] ³
