On vacation and #fieldsketching ~ nuthin’ better. I am on a quest to spend time outdoors listening to the cuckoo, enjoying the sunrise and employing all the techniques and technology I know to say “shoo-skeeters”. Smokey birch wood fire, 2 kinds of bugspray (not quite ready to break out the DEET), the new electronic thermocell lantern, the old fashioned green coils and a dog that will snap at any buzzing creature by my ankles. Sketch book is open to what happened to the last mosquito that disturbed my drawing…wish me luck. They aren’t big enuf that I can be carried off, so I have that going for me.

All the nature journaling tools we have been exploring this week have been wonderful, but without the right mindset it is easy to get snagged, judge our efforts, or even give up entirely. With the right mindset we can let our nature journal be a place to explore, have fun, grow, engage, feel connected and tap into our joy! Today we are going to explore the idea of the fixed vs growth mindset, how to stay motivated and how to give feedback to ourselves and others that will help everyone to progress and grow. We are also going to explore how to connect mindfully with nature, for our own health and wellbeing.⁣ ⁣ There will be two live workshops today. The first will be with nature journal teacher, Melinda Nakagawa (@sparkinnature). Melinda’s workshop is called ‘Mindset Matters: Small shifts for ease and joy in nature journaling’. The first will be an exciting exploration of science and sealife with marine biologist Elizabeth Mills (@marinemumbles). Join Elizabeth live on YouTube, 5th June at 10 AM Pacific time.
